Coldain Ring Quest

The Quest is a continuation of the Ring Quest and is given by Dain Frostweaver VI in Icewell Keep. You must complete the first nine parts to do this quest. Also be aware that this quest is considered UBER in as much as you might want to consider being happy with 'Coldain Heros Insignia Ring' before you get all your guildmates and friends killed, but then again where is the fun in that? Read the War Strategy well. Commit it to memory!

1. Give the Dirk of the Dain back to Dain and say 'you can count on my help'. Not only receive the Dirk back, but also a Declaration of War.

2. We will get the 'Dirk of the Dain' back. Keep it in a safe place in case the war does not go well for you.

3. Get everyone you know. Every person in your guild. All your friends. All the people that owe you a favor and all the people that owe your friends a favor and get them to the Thurgadin Gates in the Great Divide. Have them buff up and get ready for an all out war. Warn everyone in the zone that a war is about to break out and that they can either join you or leave the zone.

4. Once everyone is ready hand in the 'Declaration of War' and the 'Coldain Hero's Insignia Ring' to Sentry Badain who is in the left guard tower in front of Thurgadin in the Great Divide. You receive the 'Coldain Hero's Insignia Ring' back and the war will be triggered.

5. A line of Coldain will spawn in between the towers with a few named heroes and Seneschal Aldikar (who will be behind the waterfall to Thurgadin). Two of the heroes that spawn will allow you to communicate through them and control a small army of Coldain. If you manage to keep the heroes alive during the battle you will receive extra rewards from Narandi the Wretcheds body. The only Coldain that MUST NOT DIE is Seneschal Aldikar.

6. This would not be a war with out an enemy and that would be the large army of Giants that also spawn outside Thurgadin. Other than the Giants and the Dwarves the entire zone of the Great Divide is be despawned.

7. The duration of the war is about 3 hours, and throughout the whole thing wave after wave of giants will be charging Thurgadin.

WAR STRATEGY

You need 12+ buffed 4500 HP tanks to tank all giants in all waves since any Giant that is not tanked will ignore all raiders and just charge Thurgadin and the raid would fail.

One tank needs to stay at the Thurgadin entrance so that if any Giant charges Thurgadin he can tank it until it is pulled back to the raid. A second reason you need this tank there is that during the war there are lots of Coldain Heroes who will run to Thurgadin and then run run to attack the Giants. You need this tank to say "For the dain attack" then they will stay put at the Thurgadin Gate so that KOS raiders won't get into trouble.

The raid camp spot is at the river near a rock which is between the Wurm cave and Thurgadin (loc -1800,0)

First Wave
In the first wave Giant Spearman will spawn to West and East. No one should attack them or get near them as they are rooted and will summon. The first wave is considered the trickiest as they spawn in BOTH the West and the East locations.

All Waves
There are 3 spawn points for Giant Waves:
1) West near the Giant Spearman
2) East near the Wizard Spire
3) South near the Wurm Cave

West and East spawns charge Thurgadin so you will need a least one Ranger to keep their track open at rush them as soon as they spawn as they move quite fast.

Last Waves
After you kill the three Warlock Giants in the last three waves 'Narandi the Wretched' will spawn at the cave point and you need to pull it as it despawns quite fast.

Some of the last few waves will spawn 12+ giants all at once so you will need your 12+ tanks to make sure that ALL the newly spawned Giants (Not the spearmen) are being attacked.

 

8. Narandi the Wretched (level 66) will eventually spawn. He flurries and hits for 750 damage, has around 120,000 Hit Points and has a fire DoT which deals about 350 damage per second. He is NOT SLOWABLE. He drops:


Effect is Clarity II (stackable with Clarity and other FT items)


Effect magnifies your vision


Effect is invulnerability


Effect is DoT of up to 37 HP per tick for 1.8 mins


Effect is you can see invisible NPCs

Garadain Glacierbane survives:

Effect is Clarity I (stackable with Clarity and other FT items)

9. Turn in Narandi's head and the Coldain Hero's Insignia Ring to receive the Ring of Dain Frostreaver IV:


Effect is 10HP regeneration, 10HP Damage Shield and increase your ATK by 10.
