This Heritage quest yields a really nice Axe. This
quest is recommended for groups of upper 20s or level 33+ solo and is
long and tedious in parts, but definitely worth it.
Words of the Giant
1. Head to the Thundering Steppes and kill
Giants (or Permafrost
and Everfrost Giants).
2. Every once in a while they will drop 'Hill Giant
Idol'. Inspect the item.
3. After five idols you will have learnt how to speak Giant.
Little Tarby Lost
1. Find Obsid Boulderboom (775, 1000), hail
him and look up. Reply you will find his lost pet for him.
2. You will find Tarby Boulderboom (500,
475) in the Thundering Steppes (random spawn).
You may have to wait for Tarby Boulderboom
to spawn
3. I advise bringing a friend or two because hailing the bear will
spawn three waves of mobs. Two waves of six hungry
wolves (Level 28 Heroic) and a Dire Wolf
and two hungry wolves (Level 30 Heroic).
4. Now head back to Obsid Boulderboom and
hail him.
5. Receive a Cracked Stone Hand Axe. Examining
the Axe will start the "An Axe from The Past" quest.
The Quest Proper
1. You must mine ten granite pieces from Wind Swept Rocks in the Thundering
Steppes (90+ Mining skill)
2. After obtaining all the pieces you receive a Pristine
Piece of Granite and Granite Tomahawk Recipe.
3. Create a Dull Tomahawk:
Dull Tomahawk (level 9 Artisan)
Pristine piece of Granite
Ash stave (Player made / Bought)
Sparkling flower (Harvested / Bought)
Cracked stone hand axe
Combine in Forge
4. Take the axe to Obsid Boulderboom and
he will tell you you need to sharpen it.
5. To do this you will first need to kill 100 skeletons
in Thundering Steppes
6. Return to Obsid Boulderboom and he will
give you a Sharpened Tomahawk. Continue
the convesation when you are ready because he will then send you off
to kill 25 Skindancer gnolls in the Thundering
Steppes. You are given one hour to complete this task! (At
level 33 I had 4 minutes to spare at the end)
7. Once again return to Obsid Boulderboom
and he will require the ink of an Octogorgon.
8. Enter the Cove of Decay (requires access
quest) and Kill Octogorgon (Level 31
Epic).
